Basic Planning Settings

Before the Planning Module can perform calculations, the basic planning settings must first be configured.

These settings determine which data is used as the starting point for the plan and ensure that Factview performs the calculations correctly.

Settings Menu

The basic planning settings can be configured via:

Main Menu → Settings

Within this menu, several tabs are available, including:

  • Master Data

  • Settings

  • Other configuration options

Each tab contains a specific part of the planning configuration.

Selecting a Dossier and Import Set

The most important step in the settings is selecting the correct data source.

This consists of two selections:

Dossier

Select the dossier for which the plan will be created.

Import Set

Select the Import Set that will serve as the basis for the plan.

This Import Set contains, among other things:

  • Financial data (Actuals)

  • General Ledger Accounts

  • Dimensions, such as Cost Centers

  • The corresponding fiscal year

These data form the foundation of the planning process.

Using Source Data

The selected Import Set is used as the starting point for the Planning Module:

  • Existing financial data is imported.

  • Future planning data is added.

  • Factview automatically calculates the financial forecast.

Most of these settings only need to be configured once, unless:

  • New General Ledger Accounts are added.

  • The source data changes.

Managing Data

Managing Data

The Manage section provides an overview of the data imported from the selected Import Set.

This includes:

  • General Ledger Accounts

  • Cost Centers

  • Other dimensions

These data can then be used when creating planning items.

Why Master Data Is Important

Correctly configured master data ensures that:

  • Calculations are performed accurately.

  • Reports remain consistent with the financial administration.

  • Dimensions, such as Cost Centers, can be used directly in planning.

Without these settings, the Planning Module cannot generate reliable financial forecasts.
